UBR in Bangladesh

The UFBR programme is working towards realizing an enabling environment in which each individual can exercise his/her sexual and reproductive rights. Access to services and education, supportive laws and legislation, and increased acceptance of sexuality and sexual rights of all people are the building blocks of such enabling environment.

Strategic Objectives:

1. Increased utilization of comprehensive SRHR services, targeted at youth and poor people

2. Increased delivery of comprehensive sexuality education (CSE)

3. Reduction of Sexual and Gender Based Violence

4. Increased acceptance of sexual diversity and gender identity

Constituting members - UBR -1:  

  • Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB),
  • Population Services and Training Center (PSTC),
  • Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK),
  • Christian Hospital Changdraghona (CHC) and
  • Reproductive Health Services Training and Education Program (RHSTEP).

Geographical coverage: 12 Upozilla in 10 District: 

  • Bogra Sadar Upazila,
  • Poba Upazila,
  • Pabna Sadar Upazila,
  • Noakhali Sadar Upazila,
  • Gazipur Sadar Upazila,
  • Mymesingh Sadar Upazila,
  • Durgapur Upazila,
  • Moddyo Nagar Upazila,
  • Kaptai Upazila ,
  • Rajsthali Upazila,
  • Kawkhali Upazila and part of Chittagong City Corporation area.

Constituting members - UBR -2:  

  • Family Planning Association of Bangladesh (FPAB),
  • Population Services and Training Center (PSTC),
  • Dushtha Shasthya Kendra (DSK),
  • Association for Prevention of Septic Abortion, Bangladesh (BAPSA)
  • Reproductive Health Services Training and Education Program (RHSTEP).
  • Bangladesh Nari Progati Sangha (BNPS)

  • Pabna Sadar Upazila,
  • Noakhali Sadar Upazila,
  • Gazipur Sadar Upazila,
  • Mymesingh Sadar Upazila,
  • Durgapur Upazila,
  • Moddyo Nagar Upazila,
  • Kaptai Upazila ,
  • Rajsthali Upazila,
  • Kawkhali Upazila
  • Netrokona Sadar Upazila 
  • Barhatta Upazila
  • Rangamati Sadar Upazila
  • and part of Chittagong City Corporation area.

Following are target groups for Bangladeshi UFBR programme:

  • Youth from 10 to 24 years of age (Special attention for unmarried youth
  • Students of schools, colleges and Madrasha
  • Out of school adolescents
  • Women of Reproductive age (15-49)

The programme will use the following interventions strategies to achieve these objectives:

  1. Comprehensive sexuality education (CSE)at Organisation level
  2. Service delivery at clinic and community level
  3. Capacity building of civil society
  4. Policy influencing
